Preparation

- Restore the backup to the test site.
- Upgrade the Joomla! version of the test site.
- Upgrade all important Joomla extensions.
- Test the site.
- Run a link checker W3C Link Checker.
Upgrade
- Backup the site with Akeeba Backup.
- Set the site to offline.
- Upgrade the Joomla! version by downloading the latest package from the Joomla! website.
- Upgrade all important Joomla extensions, including:
- JEvents: download it here.
- JCE editor: download it here.
- Akeeba backups: download it here.
- Simple Image Gallery (by JoomlaWorks): download it here.
- Trombinoscope contact viewer: download it here.
- XMap site map: download it here, choose Xmap Package.
- AutoTweetNG: download it here, choose Free for community sites.
- AcyMailing: download it here, choose Starter edition.
- NotifySubmit: download it here
- Apply core customatisation.
- Set the site to online.
