On June 24, 2005, a lawsuit was filed against Google for alleged click fraud on the Adwords pay-per-click program. The Plaintiff, Click Defense, promises Google did not enact appropriate measures to shield against deceptive ticks leading to unwarranted marketing costs. Click Defense claims it's dropped over $5 million to click fraud.

Click Fraud

Click fraud is just a term with a unique meaning on the web. It describes the prepared clicking of pay-per-click adverts by customers that have no purpose of actually making a purchase. It's common knowledge that illegal businesses will put up click centers manages where individuals are paid nominal wages to click on specific ads. Instead, companies uses programs called press bots that automatically look for ads and do the same. The result, needless to say, is really a bevy of advertising budgets that are drained by clicks.

Google claims it requires appropriate preventative measures. This claim, however, is usually met with a snicker since the only way to obtain profits for Google is marketing. This causes an conflict of interest since Google needs to improve ticks to create profits. As a traded company, Google is under pressure to constantly show increased profits. Using all of this under consideration, one must wonder how difficult Google works to control fake ticks. When you have used this content search part of Google Adwords, doubts must be certainly raised by the incredible poor conversion rates in your head.

Click Fraud Percentages

Neither Google, Overture or any other search engine has been ready to publish click fraud costs for their paid advertising plan. Ideas have already been provided regarding an interest rate of 20 percent. Active publishers know, but, the rates could be greater depending on the competitiveness of the keywords under consideration. Click Defense, the Plaintiff in the suit, is declaring a press fraud rate of 38 percent.

May This Influence PPC?

The suit against Google was expected. Every site using Adwords is aware of the situation with click fraud. Frankly, it is a challenge with every pay-per-click se while our experience has been better with Overture.

So, will the search engines be forced by this lawsuit to wash up their work? Its difficult to express, but there should be one particular advantage. As part of the lawsuit, Google could be required to reveal the real click fraud rates occurring in Adwords. If Google moves to quickly decide the case, you need to take it being an indicator it really wants to keep consitently the costs private. This, of course, means the press fraud rates are high.

You should watch the development of the suit if you use your site to be promoted by pay-per-click search engines. Some very interesting information should be revealed. Whatever the outcome, click fraud is simply another reason to follow search engine marketing techniques. jt foxx
