Recipient of 13 Golden Globe and 84 Emmy nominations, including five for Best TV Series (Drama), NYPD Blue is generally considered to be one of the greatest prime time dramatic series in TV history. The show is also one of the most controversial as well. Before its original release in Fall 1993, NYPD Blue became the main topic of a nationwide controversy arising from its utilization of bad language and poor visual scenes. A national debate was prompted by the series on what constitutes right TV programming and whether government censorship should be involved. Ahead of the first occurrence actually shown all this happened! "Family values" attention groups attacked ABC for publishing the show, but when NYPD Blue proved it self to be moderate by today's standards, the promotion only helped to push the police drama series to the apex of the Nielsen ratings, where it remained for twelve times

The NYPD Blue (Season 2) DVD comes with a number of dramatic episodes including the time initial "Trials & Tribulations" in which Kelley's testimony on Licalsi's behalf triggers an Inside Affairs investigation and Sipowicz tries to get assistance from an abused woman (fearful of her husband) whose testimony is defectively needed. Meanwhile, Sipowicz's AA mentor wants him to agree to the boilerplate recovery commitment before reconstituting his relationship with Sylvia Other significant periods from Season 2 contain "The Final Adjustment" in which Simone and Sipowicz investigate a successful chiropractor suspected of murdering his wife, and "Bombs Away" in which the two investigators apprehend a Rumanian immigrant with a person locked in his trunk and the man works out to become a fugitive terrorist
