How To Remove Those Pesky Pests From Your Home

Do not live in slavery to the pests in your home anymore. No matter how big the problem or small the problem, you have to take action yourself. Whether you pay a pest control service or not, take action with these tricks today to help out on your own turf. pest free.

Try using orange oil to keep insects at bay. Insects do not like the smell of orange oil as it is poisonous to many of them. The added benefit is that you can use it to clean your home. If you have not yet tried orange oil you definitely should.

Check to see if the shingles in your home are in need of repair every few months or so. Bugs will tend to feast on anything that is molding or breaking down, especially wood. Try to keep your home up to date if you want to avoid a bug problem in the future.

Put your pet food into containers that are airtight. There are few things more attractive to pests than poorly contained pet foods. many people simple scrunch up the top of the bag and leave it in their garage! That's quite the pest invitation. Instead, get your pet food into an airtight container, so pests will be none the wiser.

Keep sweet smelling food products in sealed containers or in the fridge. Sweet foods can easily attract a vast variety of pests, from rodents to ants. If you do not have enough containers to seal your sugar, cereal and breads you should invest in them. It will cost you a lot less than paying an exterminator.

If you have flies in your home, consider where you store your garbage. If your kitchen waste bin isn't sealed tightly, replace it with a better model. If you keep garbage right next to your home or in the garage, move it further away from your home to move the flies away, too.

If you vacuum up the ants in your home, make sure you sprinkle a little corn starch on them before you do so. This will cause them to die inside the vacuum bag and will ensure that you don't have a problem at a later date. Alternatively, simply use soap and water to take care of the problem.

Mice enjoy eating grains and cereal. This is something you have to make sure you don't leave lying around in your kitchen. Mice will sink their teeth into almost anything! If having mice in the home is common for you, remove the food supply and place them in high cabinets and use sealed containers. They have a fantastic sense of smell, so don't underestimate these little critters.

To ensure ants don't move into your home, mix 1c sugar and 1c borax in a 1 quart jar. Hammer holes into the lid with a nail and then use the jar to spread the mixture around your foundation, doors, windows and the baseboards on the inside, too. The sugar attracts ants while the Borax kills them.

Now you should see just how easily you can reclaim your home from those pests. It is not going to cost you nearly what it would to pay someone to come out and set a few traps. Set your own traps and capture your own pests without paying for it for the next month.
