Like a youngster, I witnessed nightrunners kick my mother's door, threw sand through the ceiling make noises outside and no-one was brave enough to tell them to leave. My mother wasn't bothered by them, but because a young child, this terrified me a good deal.
Let me explain what nightrunners are: they are grown men, married with families who decides at night that they'll run around other peoples' compound and disturb their sleep. Nightrunners are not violent people, they do not steal, or attempt to kill, their mission would be to run around other peoples' home, throw sand or rocks around the iron sheet roofs and proceed to the next home. They get satisfaction by disturbing people who are asleep.
Most of the nightrunners were ordinary people except during the night, there is a demon or something that creates them to leave their house and run around naked. It is absurd but true that most nightrunners are men. nightrunner also enjoy running if this raining because the likelihood of meeting people outside at night is minimum.
My grandmother told me of her cousin who had an arranged marriage to nightrunner man. At nighttime, the husband told his wife that he was going out. The wife was very suspicious but didn't respond. The very next day, the nightrunner suspected that the wife might leave and tell others about his 'night duties' and plot to kill his wife. Around the night he left to go out, the wife also left and put a pillow and some clothes to pretend that she was asleep. The very next day, the nightrunner visited the girl family and begged them not to reveal his secret. He paid them two cows, 3 sheep and a goat.
I've researched within the Diagnostic Statistical Manual to locate what diagnosis a nightrunner would fit and located none. It's still a mystery in my experience that a grown man could leave his home and play other bands home naked. Nightrunners are mainly in the rural areas where there isn't any electricity and individuals cannot identify who they really are. Many people have speculated that nightrunner are depressed individuals, however, this could be debated since most depressed people would not have the power to get up and run during the night. If a person out there has some information about the diagnosis for nightrunners, I would greatly appreciate to go over further.
